Has your business recently switched to remote work full-time? Between pets, kids and significant others, it can be tough to get into a groove when working at home. As a team that typically works remotely at least once a week, we know a thing or two about staying productive while hunkered down at home. Here are a few of our favorite tips:

Establish A Routine

  • This is key! Try to wake up at the same time each morning and get out of bed as if you are planning to go into the office. For some folks, this could include changing out of pajamas, doing makeup and drinking coffee.

Create A Dedicated Workspace

  • While working from bed sounds nice, it isn’t the best idea. If you don’t have a home office but do have space to set up outside of your bedroom, we recommend creating an area in your home that is exclusively your place to work. When you avoid working from the coziness of your bed, you’ll sleep better at night too!

Eliminate Distractions

  • While having the TV on and catching up on your favorite show is tempting, try to keep it off or on mute to decrease distraction. Opt for a noise machine or white noise playlist especially when it comes to apartment living (we hear you, upstairs neighbors!). If others are home while you’re working, be sure to communicate what times you’ll be working and when you will be taking a lunch or available to chat.

Remember to Take Breaks

  • Some days it’s easy to be in the zone and forget that you haven’t gotten up in hours! Schedule dedicated breaks for yourself to get up and move. Whether that’s walking around your home, taking the dog out for a quick walk, calling a friend or family member or sitting down and having an actual lunch away from the computer. Breaks are important to keep your stamina strong throughout the day!
