Paxton is a North Carolina native with a degree in Communications – Public Relations from Appalachian State University (go ‘Neers!). She loves building relationships with journalists, influencers and clients and her favorite feeling might just be when she receives coverage for a client. Seriously, she might just shriek with joy. Post-grad, Paxton worked in crowdfunding PR for a variety of products in the technology, outdoor and fashion spaces on Kickstarter and Indiegogo. While working in crowdfunding, she secured coverage for her clients in Mashable, INC., PopSugar, Buzzfeed, Bustle, Digital Trends and more. After almost two years working with startups and over a year working for a lithium battery manufacturing company as a Marketing Specialist, Paxton enthusiastically joins the Social Ape team, focusing on public relations and social media. Known as the office pop culture expert, when Paxton isn’t talking about visiting Charlotte’s newest restaurants, you can find her watching Bravo (her guilty pleasure is The Real Housewives franchise) and spending time with her rescue dog, Pippa.
What do you do at Social Ape Marketing?
I’m back! It feels great to rejoin the Social Ape team. Currently, I am a Public Relations Manager, meaning I help secure media coverage for our clients as well as manage social media accounts.
Why are you passionate about marketing or PR?
I love working with others and helping businesses in our community. I really do love the feeling of landing a “media hit” and that just drives me to work harder!
What do you do in your free time?
Currently, my free time is filled with wedding planning! I got engaged in August and our wedding isn’t until November 2022, but it’s a lot of work (especially when you’re as much of a planner as I am). When I take a break from that, I enjoy spending time with friends and trying new restaurants around town.
What do you love about Charlotte?
I personally love my neighborhood (Madison Park/Montclaire) because it’s so accessible to many things I enjoy doing. I also love that the city continues to grow and evolve.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I hope I’ll still be here at Social Ape! I also want another dog at some point so I’ll probably have another dog by then haha!
What is one thing that most people don’t know about you?
Being in the virtual world for the past 1.5 years, most people don’t realize that I’m fairly short (5’1 and some change) or that I am a female since my name is kind of gender-neutral! I’m also left-handed!
