Our work this year looked a bit different as our client’s priorities changed. Like all marketing professionals, we adapted our daily tasks as entire industries shifted with COVID-19. Luckily, one of our favorite campaigns went on as planned in 2020. In the spirit of the season, we’re recapping Preston Dental Loft’s Fourth Annual Cary Cares Makeover on this week’s blog.
Dr. Meenal Patel, Owner & Founder of Preston Dental Loft in Cary, NC, aims to not only create a beautiful looking smile for each client but also to create a smile that compliments their appearance, self-confidence and overall well-being. With this philosophy in mind, Dr. Patel and and team created the Cary Cares Campaign. Cary Cares is a makeover campaign designed to pamper and treat local women who truly deserve it. From a hard-working entrepreneur or a stay-at-home mom to a woman battling an illness or down on her luck, this is a campaign for every woman.
Preston Dental Loft partners with a number of local businesses for the campaign to put together a day of pampering for a deserving group of women nominated by family, friends and neighbors. This year’s campaign received nominations from around the Triangle and two inspiring women were selected as winners. Although some aspects were scaled back this year due to COVID-19, the team felt it was more important than ever this year to provide the winners a stress-free day to truly relax and unwind.
The first recipient was Gab Tuggle. Gab and her husband have had a direct impact on those impacted by COVID-19, as well being affected themselves. Gab is a volunteer coordinator for the MS Society and was furloughed for 12 weeks due to the pandemic. Yet she volunteered her off time at the Boys and Girls Club in Zebulon where her husband serves as a club director, helping kids ages 5-18 attend class virtually while their parents were at work. When the club was closed, her husband Chris delivered meals to underprivileged families and despite wearing a mask and practicing social distancing, contracted COVID. Gab is back at work at the MS Society following the furlough and is championing programs to raise money virtually despite the ongoing pandemic. In his nomination, her father wrote, “Gab and her husband are exemplary examples of people who would rather give to others than receive.”
Amy Galloway was the second recipient. A mother of three, Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer at the beginning of the pandemic and had surgery in April followed up by 6 weeks of radiation treatment that finished in June. Luckily the cancer was caught early and the tumor was small. Her friend Rebecca notes in her nomination, “I have seen her continue on, being there for others. She faced financial challenges despite being my best example of living frugally and simply.” Amy shows up for people and blesses others’ lives in quiet ways as a “behind-the-scenes” type friend. Rebecca writes, “The services offered through the makeover are those that I know Amy would enjoy but that she would not pursue for herself. I would love for her to be pampered. She has suffered heartache and worry but continues to live so generously to bring joy for those around her.”
The makeover day kicked off on December 11 with manicures and pedicures at Nails R Fun Salon. Next was haircuts at Triniti Salon, with headshots by Mylina Russell Photography to end the day. Before the official makeover day, the winners were offered complimentary hair coloring at Triniti Salon and received a full dental consultation and teeth whitening from Preston Dental Loft. Additional prizes included facials provided by Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa and gift cards donated by Swagger Boutique.
In a year full of so much uncertainty and hardship, our team was thrilled to be a part of providing a day of TLC to a deserving group of women.
