YouTube is the most effective platform for video marketing so it should be a big part of your online advertising strategy if it isn’t already. Even though there are hours and hours of video being uploaded to YouTube right now, there are about 30 million people watching YouTube every single day so the opportunity to increase the reach of your business is ideal.
First, let’s review how YouTube ads work. YouTube Ads are created within the parent company’s Google Ads, and maximizes your video’s reach by placing your ad in either of the platforms. You can link your YouTube Channel to Google Ads here.
Types of YouTube Ads
Before we can start our campaign, you’ll have to identify which type of YouTube ad will best align with your goals. The different types of ads are listed below.
Bumper Ads
Bumper ads play before the video that is selected. The downside of these types of ads is that they only run for six seconds, which makes them the shortest ad option. Bumper ads are best used to complement a larger video campaign.
Non-Skippable In-Stream Ads
Theses non-skippable ads can play before, during or after the user’s chosen video. They usually run about 15-20 seconds, which gives you more time to convey your message. You should typically use these ads when the video ad is strong enough to compete with the attention span of the user.
TrueView ads
These are the most popular types of YouTube ads and are consider the standard video ad type. In this ad type, advertisers only pay for TrueView ads when the viewers watch the ad for at least 30 seconds, or interact with their ad. These type of ads can be easily customized and controlled.
